Meet Chris & Sadie
The Heart and Wheels Behind Kombi Tours Byron Bay
Some people find Byron Bay. Chris arrived in it — behind the wheel of a bright yellow 1974 convertible Kombi named Sadie, on his way to see Coldplay at Splendour in the Grass. What started as a weekend festival trip turned into a love story with a coastal town that had it all: live music, golden beaches, salty air, and a community that felt like home.
From that day on, Chris and Sadie never looked back.
Now, they’re the duo behind Kombi Tours Byron Bay — sharing the magic of Byron with travellers from all over the world. The tour isn’t just about the places you visit — it’s about how you see them. Picture yourself cruising past turquoise waves, pulling up to secret lookouts, and chasing golden hour through the hinterland — all from the open-air seats of a retro ride that turns heads everywhere it goes.
With Sadie’s vintage charm and Chris’s deep love for the area, each tour is packed with local stories, unreal views, and stops that feel like they were made for the 'gram (because they kind of are). Whether it's your first time in Byron or your tenth, you’ll experience it like a local — chilled, sun-kissed, and maybe a little in love.
You might also spot Chris behind the wheel of Kombi Keg Byron Bay, the region’s most iconic mobile bar, adding retro vibes to weddings and parties all across the Northern Rivers.
📍Look out for the number plate: ‘74 LOVE’ — a tribute to Sadie’s roots, and the kind of feel-good memories this tour was made for.
